What You'll Gain from Monothology

Monothology demonstrates how seeing through the human autonomy illusion gives you access to innate but hidden metacognitive abilities. These abilities can help you overcome mental health challenges including depression, loneliness and narcissism while reducing your susceptibility to manipulation.

Part 1 of the book goes to compelling lengths to explain why the ‘lab notes’ below are true to make sure you fully understand the autonomy illusion. We’ll demonstrate through in-depth research every element on the notes through concepts ranging from the neuroscience of volition and evolutionary biology to the latest research in quantum consciousness and cosmology.

We’ll have fun along the way, speculating on what this might all mean for free will, personal responsibility and the ‘meaning of life’. But most importantly, we’ll discover just how illusory our inner monologue is, how our mind really works, and how our misguided perspectives of them both can cause disastrous mental health challenges and global issues.

Part 2 explains how understanding the reality of your inner monologue and inner workings of your mind provides you with a metacognitive superpower for self-transformation. Armed with this innate but hidden gift that could previously be used against you, you’ll find the included self-help exercises based on cognitive-behavioural therapy, internal family systems therapy, emotional intelligence training, and mindfulness much more effective and logical, rooted in the concrete rather than the abstract.

All exercises in the book are based on thought and perspective – you don’t need a pen and paper to get through, just an open mind (which you’ll have by the end if not already).

The aim of Monothology is to explain how your metacognitive superpowers function so that you can use them at will for the rest of your life.

We refer to them as superpowers, but they’re actually natural human abilities you’ve had all along – they’ve just been hidden by widespread misguided perspectives. Without knowing how to use them, our mental health is always at stake – and easy to use against us.

For you, that now changes forever.

Read the lab notes below. You don’t need to remember them – we’ll keep referring to annotated sections of those notes with evidence throughout the book.

They may make sense to some of you at first glance. If not, don’t worry – they’ll make complete sense and upgrade your entire ‘operating system’ very soon.

Why?

The psychological wellbeing of the average person and many societies seems to be tumbling. Whether this has been caused by rapid technological change, economic hardship or an increase in global violence, our degrading mental health seems to be exacerbating these problems on an individual and societal level – much like a chicken and egg scenario.

It seems that increasingly, people are accepting a bleak future as inevitable, with fingers of blame being pointed all over the place. As we struggle to find common ground with each other thanks at least partly to the rise of technology and digital echo chambers, we’re becoming increasingly polarised.

In Monothology, while we explore groundbreaking and established concepts that shed light on the nature of our reality, we’ll see how our misguided illusion of autonomy is pushing us to ignore the bigger picture and feel perpetually incomplete.

Perhaps by embarking on a journey back to reality, gaining a deeper appreciation for each other, ourselves and our shared existence, and making some simple tweaks to our perception and ‘operating system’, we can improve our mental health and resilience while embracing the future with a healthy dose of optimism.

Perhaps we can also change a few misguided and unhealthy views while we’re at it.
